Reasons for nominating:
I would like to nominated Jennifer Hamer as the 2018 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year. Jennifer is currently NAS Lemoore’s Ombudsman who goes above and beyond in everything she does for our remote Navy community. Jennifer is genuinely a kind, generous and compassionate person. Physical, spiritual and mental fitness are important to her. Jennifer teaches fitness classes at the base gym and moderates a Facebook group dedicated to fitness. She also provides monthly fitness “challenges” as well as teaches a very popular Women’s Self Defense class. You can see Jennifer “getting her steps in” by walking to the gym, a meeting or an event on base. And on her way she provides a friendly smile and gets to know the person she crosses paths with. That’s how Jennifer and I met, last year, shortly after we moved on base. As a Chaplin’s spouse she leads a Bible study at a local park and is always coordinating and helping with activities such as the children’s choir, monthly community breakfasts and bringing food to the sailors in the barracks. Jennifer always provides information about resources in the community and at Fleet and Family Services to the active-duty service members and their families to get them through trying times. She frequently organizes base clean-up days where volunteers go around with provided gloves and trash bags and keep our community looking great. And finally, last year, there were frequent housing gate closures, she provided information to base residents about whether the gate was open or closed. This information saved residents about 15 minutes per trip so we knew which gate to use. Plus, she found a way to make her announcements humorous through funny graphics! Please vote for for Jennifer Hamer as MSOY, a person who cares for our service members and spouses. She leads by example, provides information in a timely manner and is always willing to stop and listen. -- Elaine Heirigs, Fellow Military Spouse
