About the nominee: I am a retired dual-military mom of two beautiful dandelion girls. I grew up in New York and enlisted in the Navy as a CT when I was 19. I met my husband during the STA-21 commissioning program. I retired in 2016 as a Lieutenant and have enjoyed being a homeschooling mom, health and wellness coach and dream catcher ever since.

Hobbies: Working out, traveling, camping, life coaching, leading my ladies’ fellowship group, and playing board games with my family and friends.

Interesting Facts: I am a life-long learner and goal setter. I speak Vietnamese, am a certified personal trainer, have a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership, run a home-based business and have been skydiving twice. (The first time I passed out on the way down!)

What is something you’ve learned from being a military spouse? Love is a choice and marriage is hard. Military marriage is even tougher, however, if I always choose love first, everything falls into place.

In your opinion, what is one of the most important issues facing military families? Finances

What is one of the best aspects of being in a military family? The mutual bond that instantly forms with other military families. Few others understand the dichotomy of both wanting your loved one home, while also supporting their duty to country.

What is one thing you want to accomplish with the Military Spouse of the Year title? I want to raise awareness of the need for total family health. This starts with physical health but also includes emotional health and financial wellness. Supporting families where they need it most and setting them on a clear path to change their future forever. By being humble and transparent. Using my life’s messes to be my message of hope to others. And using my life successes as proof that anyone can be anything they wish.
